Initially trained in Biochemistry at Utrecht University, Dr. Reutelingsperger obtained a PhD in Biochemistry on "Vascular Anticaogulant. A novel anticoagulant mechanism".
Prof. Dr. Chris Reutelingsperger is Principal Investigator of the research theme “Vascular Aspects” of Main Theme 1 of the Cardiovascular Research Institute Maastricht (CARIM). He supervises the research lines addressing molecular and cellular mechanisms of vascular aging, including atherosclerosis and vascular calcification. His interests focus on cell death programs, phagocytosis, autophagy, annexins, with emphasis on annexins A1 and A5, and vitamin K-dependent proteins.
