Since the transfer to CARIM in 2002 I have shifted the focus from coagulation-inflammation research in sepsis models, to the broader field of cardiovascular (CV) disease. A specific focus of current research is the pleiotropic actions of coagulation proteases in atherosclerosis, atherothrombosis and ischemia reperfusion injury.Together with my wife, dr Arina ten Cate-Hoek, I developed studies in patients with venous thrombosis and post thrombotic syndrome (PTS).
